WANTED-YOUR ENTRY for our 1st Franklin Area ART & WRITING SHOW

Young acorn on a cherished White oak, many of which populate the Franklin Area and are considered a keystone plant for wildlife.

Honor a neighborhood tree you love! Create a poem, drawing, sculpture, photograph, painting, or any other artistic work to celebrate some aspect of our cherished Franklin area trees.

We hope you are able to take advantage of this great opportunity to invite your children to observe the beauty of our trees, encouraging both their artistic expression and their love of nature. We also hope you will find this a perfect excuse to dust off your old paint brushes, dig out your old pottery wheel, wax poetic, and even make this a family event!

Entries will be displayed during a show and reception on May 7 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 2002 Lorraine Avenue. Rain date May 13.

Invite your friends and family to the reception, and please come…whether or not you have submitted an entry! This is an opportunity to enjoy some late afternoon sips and nibbles with neighbors while perusing our very own local artistic talent and love of Franklin Area trees!

Details:

Submissions must be original works and ready to hang or otherwise display and must identify the location of the tree(s) within the Franklin Park Area. Submissions will be accepted in two categories:

Pre-school through 8th grade

9th grade through adult

Entries should be delivered to 2002 Lorraine Avenue on Friday, May 5 between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. (Rain date May 12)

Address any questions to ufa.mclean@gmail.com or Louise Marshall at 703-533-8004.
